Gamma Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated completed its 2013 Leadership Fellows Institute. The institute is designed to provide leadership skills for male and female students in grades 9 through 12 by conducting workshops ranging from personal development, business writing, interview skills, financial management, social graces, etiquette, community service, college preparation, and health. Sessions occurred on six select Saturdays from June 8th through July 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the sorority house -except the community service project which was conducted at St Michael's Episcopal Church as collaboration with Together Baton Rouge and Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The institute had 30 participants representing 4 school districts (Ascension, Baker, East Baton Rouge, and Zachary Community) and 10 high schools.
The institute has served as our chapter’s signature program since its inception in the late 1980s. The institute was originally for females students in 11th and 12th grade.
